I truly hope that this title made you excitedly click to see what was in store for this month's blog post. I have been on a very personal journey the past 18 months of recognizing the impact that fast fashion is having on our world. Although this recognition has been heart wrenching, I have discovered that there are many solutions to the very real issues that are facing us as we learn to better care for the earth and ultimately the entire human race.
Personally, I was moved by the documentary The True Cost and I highly recommend giving it a watch. It removed the veil for me in regards to the fashion industry, in the same way that Food Inc. removed the veil for me in regards to the food industry...
So many people are affected by the fashion industry and watching The True Cost placed them right in front of me as if we were having dinner together. I hope this blog post has educated and encouraged you that together we can create big change in small ways. By purchasing more intentionally we can be a part of turning this around and showing the fashion industry what truly matters to us...
P.S. Another way I love to fight fast fashion is by shopping secondhand. My favorite local spot is Style Encore! I also love purchasing secondhand online through swap.com, eBay, poshmark, and tradesy. What are some ways you have committed or plan to commit to fighting fast fashion?
