This is the part of the capsule creating process that challenged me the most...I really love to shop whenever I am able to. It is my "hobbie", which my husband likes to remind me is an expensive one ;) However, I have struggled to create a wardrobe that functioned well together and made me feel amazing every time I got dressed. I am a repeat offender of buying an item and only wearing it once, or worse...NEVER wearing it at all. Not only does it feel wasteful, it feels irresponsible. This way of shopping just plain wasn't working for me. My desired result from creating a capsule wardrobe this summer was to: 1. Have many clothing options that I feel flatter my body 2. The items are cohesive and self expressing (my personal style) 3. Have practical options for my lifestyle as a mom, fashion stylist, and public speaker The items that made the final cut surprised me. I have never been a shopper that purchases multiple items of the same thing in different colors...some of you know exactly what I mean. "If I find something I like, I buy it in all of the available colors." I have heard it many times before, and I encourage buying this way as long as it is figure flattering and a good color for you! But I like variety, and in the past I have sacrificed good fit and practicality for something new and different. Not any more. It was also helpful to create a Pin board on Pinterest for the season and notice what type of styles I was pinning, or even similar pieces. I.e. if you keep pinning outfits with distressed white skinny jeans...you might want to hunt down a pair to add to your capsule wardrobe...just sayin. Here are my summer picks: Tops Jackets and Blazers
