Chic Summer Office Essentials - Part 2 Blazers
You might be thinking "Blazers?! In the summer?? That might be a little toasty...". I totally understand, but as I said in my last post, you need layering pieces in the summer for the air-conditioned office, lunch appointments, client meetings...etc. Make sure whatever blouse or tank you wear underneath is appropriate when your blazer is removed and your set! PLUS, blazers are a miracle worker for flattering a women's silhouette. In the photo to the left, I really like how she is wearing her blazer with shorts and a tie blouse...SUPER cute! Throw on some heels and "work" it girl ;)
When working within your own closet, or buying new, there are a few things I want you to look for in your blazers. Choose a 1-2 button lapel blazer, these are the most universally flattering (for the ladies with a substantial chest and ladies without). If your blazer is more that 5 years old, you most likely need to update to a more current style.
If your body shape carries more weight in your middle and bust
(apple shape), blazers are your BEST friend because they give you a smaller appearing waistline and add structure to your shoulders. Make sure the blazer hugs your waist when closed to give you a nice small waist-ed appearance. EVERY body shape can benefit from blazers. I'll show you a few different styles and who they work best for.
Here is the universally flattering style blazer. I chose great summer colors. These blazers have a 1-2 button lapel. I tried to keep it light, bright, and happy...
These blazers don't have closure buttons and are meant to be worn open. They will still give you some shape, but not as much as the blazers with buttons will. These are great for women that are more voluptuous on the bottom (pear shape), have a proportionate bust to hip ratio (hourglass), or have little to no curves (rectangle or boy shape). These are a bit more fashion forward, let's check them out ;)
I could blog about blazers for days...They are flattering on EVERYONE and instantly give you a put together look. I hope you enjoyed learning more about blazers for the summer. I am so exited for the next post about chic summer office essentials! Next round we'll focus on something for your bottom half. Thank you so much for reading!
P.S. I would LOVE to know which blazer is your favorite and why? It can be one you already own or one you saw above ;) Have a fabulous day! xoxo
