First things first, a message for my lovely readers...
I mean and stand behind every word of this blog title. I am so sick of magazine covers that say "Get Your Swimsuit Body in Only 5 Weeks!" or "How She Lost 20lbs. & Got Her Bikini Body..." The truth is, you have a swimsuit body right now and I will go even further and say you have a beautiful bikini body too. I can even give you the formula to achieve these goals:
Take one part your body + one part swimsuit = the perfect swimsuit body.
So do me a favor when you are in the Target checkout line and turn all that crap around.
Before we dive in, there are a few things I would like to address. This might not be the case for all of you, but I do find some resistance in swimsuit shopping from clients I work with (myself included).
My intention in creating this blog post is to make the process of finding a swimsuit actually enjoyable.
First, we need to learn to love and accept our bodies as they are and choose to accentuate our best features. Secondly, we can choose pieces that de-emphasize the areas we find challenging.
When we get hung up on the second, repeat the first as many times as you need to.
Please remember these tips when shopping for your swimsuit:
Swimsuits look way different out at a beach or poolside in natural light. We tend to pick ourselves a part under the harsh florescent lighting of a department store counting our cellulite. Stop it! In that same breath, the tag size doesn't matter! Always fit the most voluptuous part of you comfortably. With thousands of tops and bottoms to choose from, there are flattering options out there for you and your specific needs. In my opinion, a swimsuit is a "splurge" item. How often do you leave your house in your underwear? You need to feel confident and sexy. Don't cheat yourself.
If you have slimmer arms, legs, or hips but a curvy upper body, the swimwear below will help draw attention to your best assets by creating a waist and supporting your bust.
If you are looking to accentuate your bust and camouflage your tummy, these next swimsuits will be helpful in giving you a lovely silhouette.
If your body has little curve and you would like more of an hourglass shape, these swim suits will help you achieve that.
